ARTIST BIO

Growing up in Brewarrina, my artwork is influenced by many childhood memories of the harsh beauty of the Australian Outback. Now living on the Central Coast, I find inspiration in the movement of tidal waters and the steady passing of time and the seasons.

I am a "self directed" artist, learning from art classes and workshops, studying other artwork, reading many, many books, and conversations with other artists, but often preferring to work alone, in the peace of my studio.

The subject of my work varies from week to week but the overall force involves colour. I love colour, it's interactions on the page, it's subtlety, boldness, restfulness and cheekiness. My dreams are often in colour, about colour.

Hovering between realism and abstractism, trying to depict the extraordinary in the ordinary, my chosen medium suits my personality and hums with a creative energy of its own.

The Inks are acid free, fast drying, transparent and spirit based. My work is on triple primed MDF, finished with 3 coats of Archival UV Resistant Spray and come framed by a professional framer.

Each painting is worked with a combination of small brush strokes and an interplay of ink running across the page.

After many years of acrylic and pastel work, the use of Inks and pen allow me to capture movement and colour and hopefully create a magical and memorable experience.

My paintings are hanging in private collections throughout Australia, New Zealand, UK and USA.
