Richard is an impressionist oil painter, born in the UK and settling in Australia in the late 1960’s. He currently resides in Seaford and has lived on or adjacent to the Mornington Peninsula for over 30 years drawing much of his inspiration from the coastal and inland scenery of this beautiful region.

Commencing painting in the mid - 1970’s Richard is featured in the 2nd and 3rd editions of the popular reference work Australian Artists Today (published by Graeme Norris) and participated in several mixed and two-man shows in the 1970’s and 1980’s producing a substantial body of work in this period which is represented in many Australian and overseas collections.

Richard is a member of the Peninsula Arts Society and provides occasional tuition to their members and to those of the Mentone-Mordialloc Art Group.  His awards include:

  • People’s Choice Award Peninsula Arts Society’s 2008 Spring Art Exhibition;
  • two Highly Commendeds Rotary Club of Box Hill 2011 show;
  • Special Mention Peninsula Arts Society 2011 Spring show;
  • two Commendations Rotary Club of Mornington 2012 show;
  • Commendation 2013 Berwick Artfest;
  • Highly Commended Rotary Club of Mornington 2014 show;
  • Encouragement Award – Oils PAS’ 60th Anniversary Art Show 2014;
  • Best Use of Colour Award Berwick Artists Society annual paint-out 2015;
  • Highly Commended The Great Art Show Berwick 2015;
